Zestoretic is an antihypertensive drug whose main function is the management of hypertension. Zestoretic consists of two drugs which can effectively manage hypertension if used individually but seem to work even better when combined. However, Zestoretic should not be given to patients who are allergic to sulpha drugs, pregnant or have hereditary angioedema.
Like all anti-hypertensive agents, Zestoretic doses are mainly titrated according to the response of the patient towards therapy and tolerability as adverse effects are common in high doses. It is, therefore, important to note that Zestoretic is a prescription only drug and should not be bought unless with a proper prescription.
- Adults: Initial dose, 22.5mg P.O every 24 hours Dose Titration, Dose is usually increased 2-3 weeks after the initial dose depending on patient"s response.
- A maximum dose of 130 mg should be observed to avoid hypotension which can be fatal i.e a dose of Lisinopril should not exceed 80 mg and a dose of Hydrochlorothiazide should not go beyond 50 mg.
