Zaditor Uses

Zaditor is used to relieve itchy eyes. Zaditor treats allergic conjunctivitis with no rebound effect. An over-the-counter antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer, Zaditor is made of ketotifen fumarate. Instead of containing vasoconstrictors that can amplify eye redness once the effect wears off, Zaditor blocks the histamines without directly constricting the blood vessels. By blocking the histamines, the chemicals from cells that the body creates when there is an allergic reaction, Zaditor stops the itch. Zaditor treats seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and perennial allergic conjunctivitis. Zaditor can eliminate the itching caused by allergic conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye. Perennial and seasonal allergic symptoms, relieved by Zaditor, include ragweed, animal hair, mold, pet dander and pollen.

Zaditor Dosage

Zaditor is available over the counter and should not be a substitute for obtaining a doctor's diagnosis. Zaditor is provided as 0.025 percent ophthalmic solution. One benefit of Zaditor is that it can be used less frequently than some competitors, lasting up to 12 hours. Zaditor can be used by those with contact lenses, if the lenses are removed during treatment and are not reinserted for at least 10 minutes thereafter. Before dispensing Zaditor, always wash hands and to avoid contamination do not touch dispensing dropper. The recommended adult dosage is 1 drop in each affected eye, twice daily. Tilt the head back, look up and pull the lower eyelid down slightly, then drip the drop of Zaditor into the eye.
