Soolantra Uses

Soolantra is a prescription drug. It is used to treat the bumps and pimples of rosacea. For every 1gram of Soolantra cream, there is 10mg of ivermectin. It is topically applied. What causes rosacea is unknown. However, certain triggers are known to cause this condition. This includes sun rays, spicy foods, alcohol, microscopic skin mites and exercise. It is also known as adult acne. It's commonly found in adults of 30 years and above. It begins as redness on cheeks, forehead, chin or nose and then disappears. At times, it may occur on the neck, chest, ears or even scalp. As time goes, the redness becomes ruddier and persistent, and the blood vessels will be visible. The following are the common symptoms of rosacea:
  • Continual redness
  • Noticeable blood vessels
  • Eye irritation
  • Burning or stinging
  • Dry appearance
  • Plaques
  • Bumps and pimples
  • Skin thickening
  • Swelling

Soolantra Dosage

Apply soolantra cream as prescribed by the doctor/physician – usually once every day. The prescription may be based on the following factors:
  • Your medical history
  • Other drugs that you are taking
  • The situation being treated
  • Response to this medication
Soolantra cream should be applied in the following ways:
  • Make clean your hands with water before and after using soolantra.
  • Wipe clean the affected area with a mild soap and allow it to dry.
  • Apply a small amount of the soolantra cream and gently rub it until it is evenly distributed.
  • Do not touch your eyes/lips while with this drug is on your hand.
In case you happen to miss a dose, do it as soon as you are able. Skip the missed dose, if it is almost time for the next and continue with the normal schedule.

Soolantra Side Effects

Like so many other drugs, soolantra has its own unwanted symptoms. Many of the symptoms are minor. However, in case you experience severe reactions when using soolantra, please consult with your doctor/pharmacist. The following are the most known side effects as a result of using soolantra:
  • There is a slight burning of the skin at the point of application
  • Sore or red eyes (Irritation of the eyes)
  • Dandruff
  • Skin gets dry
Allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, breathing problems, tightness in the chest, mouth swelling, face gets swollen up, swelling of the lips or even swelling of the tongue). Soolantra Interactions

Interaction occurs where the intended result for Soolantra is altered by another drug or food substance. There is no drug interaction that has been identified by the manufacturers of soolantra. This should not be taken to mean that, soolantra does not interact with other drugs. Interaction may occur, but it is known to be minimal since the drug is not absorbed into the blood system. However, a patient is advised to consult with his doctor in case of the following conditions:
  • If one is pregnant/breast feeding
  • If one is taking herbal medicine, dietary supplements or even prescription and non-prescription drugs.
  • If one is allergic to foods or other drugs
