Selegiline is used in the treatment of Parkinson"s disease and may be used in combination with Levodopa. Parkinson"s condition is a brain complication in the nervous system that causes a gradual loss of muscle control. A patient suffering from the disease may experience tremors, stiffness, slowed body movements, and poor balance. Selegiline works by prolonging the antiParkinsonian activity of levodopa, which in turn slows the progression of the disease.
