Primsol is an antibiotic that is effective against bacterial infections especially acute ear infections and urinary tract infections. It treats:
- Acute ear infections- this is a bacterial infection that affects the middle ear. It is characterized by symptoms such as hearing loss, pus, slight ear pain, difficulty in hearing and a sense of pressure in the ear.
- Urinary tract infection- this is an infection that affects the urinary tract and is characterized by symptoms such as cloudy and smelly urine, burning sensation when urinating, fatigue, fever and an intense urge to urinate. Primsol is effective in treating both conditions.
The dosage for Primsol depends on the infection being treated as well as the condition of the patient. Consult a medical professional for the correct dosage for you. Pediatric Primsol dose for acute ear infection:
- 10mg/kg every day given in 12 hour doses for the first 10 days. Children below 6 months are not eligible to take Primsol
Adult Primsol dose for urinary tract infection:
- 100mg every 12 hours or 200mg once a day for 10 days. Avoid prolonged use of Primsol as it will cause blood disorders. Furthermore, if taken too much, the bacteria may develop resistance to it
Primsol Side Effects
