Preplus is a supplement used in pregnant patients - either before, during, or after pregnancy. The purpose of the medicine is to regulate folic acid levels while also regulating other important nutrients. Regulating folic acid levels is important, for instance, in the prevention of neural tube defects in the developing child.
Folic acid is also important for the host, too. Folic acid is needed for effective growth and repair processes, a deficiency of which results in diarrhea, confusion, depression, glossitis, and mouth sores.
Preplus is associated with its own range of potential side effects including constipation, discolored stools, stomach cramps, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
