Poly-Vent, Jr is a combination medication used to treat various symptoms caused by common cold, allergies and other breathing illnesses. It is an expectorant and decongestant drug formulated by combining two main medicines - guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine.
Guaifenesin is the expectorant agent that works by thinning and loosening the mucus to clear the congestions. Pseudoephedrine is the decongestant drug that narrows blood vessels to reduce nasal congestion. The drug may also be used as a treatment for other conditions as the physician may prescribe.

Poly-Vent, Jr Dosage
Poly-Vent, Jr dosage should be administered as per the physician’s prescription. Like many other drugs, its package comes with clear instructions from the manufacturer on how its administration should be done. Poly-Vent, Jr should also be administered after meals to especially in pediatric patients. The drug is supplied in solution or tablets and it should be for administration orally only.
Usual adult dosage for a cough and nasal congestion:
- Tablet; 1 Poly-Vent, Jr tablet orally every 6 hours. Max dose; 4 tablets a day.
- Capsules; 1-2 capsules every 4-6 hours.
- Liquid; 10 mL orally every 4 to 6 hours. Max dose; 40 mL in 24 hours.
Usual pediatric dosage for a cough and nasal congestion:
- 3 years and above; syrup, tablet or capsule (15to 60 mg pseudoephedrine) orally every 4. Max dose; 4 doses a day.
- 13 years and over; 1 tablet or capsule (30 to 120 mg pseudoephedrine) orally every 12 hours.
