Phenytex Uses

Phenytex is a drug that is used to help in preventing or controlling seizures. It is known as an anticonvulsant or an antiepileptic drug. Phenytex works in the brain by slowing down the seizure activity. Phenytex is also used for treating certain types of irregular heartbeats.

Phenytex is also used for treating patients who have undergone neurosurgery. Phenytex is not used for treating all types of seizures thus your doctor should determine if Phenytex is the right drug for you. Phenytex is also used for treating patients with Arrhythmia. Self-prescription is not advisable because it is only the doctor who can determine any other use of Phenytex besides the listed.

Phenytex Dosage

It is very important to follow the doctor's advice regarding the dosage of Phenytex. Take a missed dose as soon as you remember, but if it is almost time for the next dose you can skip the missed dose and resume your normal schedule. Below you will find a typical dosage of Phenytex.

  • The adult dose for Seizures: 1g orally which should be;divided into 3 doses (400 mg, 300mg, 300mg) given at 2 hours interval
  • Arrhythmia: 1.25 mg/kg IV every 5 minutes
  • Status Epilepticus: 10-15 mg/kg by slow IV administration
  • Neurosurgery: 100 to 200 mg IM at about 4-hour interval during surgery.
  • The pediatric dose is 15 to 20 mg/kg IV in a single or divided doses and 15 to 20 mg/kg orally for children of all ages.

Phenytex Side Effects
