Phenoptic is used to dilate the eye during procedures or examinations. Phenoptic is also used to relieve eye redness, burning, dryness and irritation as a result of wind sun and other irritants. Phenoptic may be for other purposes not stipulated in this medication guide as directed by the doctor.

Phenoptic belongs to a class of drugs known as decongestants. Phenoptic works by shrinking blood vessels. This makes the pupil bigger (dilated) just before surgery or eye examination. Before using Phenoptic, be sure to check out its active ingredients to ensure that you're not allergic to any of the ingredients. Use Phenoptic with caution if you have an eye infection, injury or have recently had an eye surgery. Phenoptic is available in eye drops from and unless it's being used in a clinical setting for surgery or eye examination, it can as well be used at home for self-treatment. Phenoptic is used for:
- Eye allergies
- Dilating the pupil before eye surgery or examination
Phenoptic comes with directions for use on the product's label. Read the directions carefully before use. Before applying Phenoptic eye drops, be sure to wash your hands. To avoid contamination, do not touch the tip of the dropper with your hands. Remove contact eyes before using Phenoptic and wait for about 15 minutes before replacing them. Apply pressure to the eye for about 1 to 2 minutes before opening the eye. Below is a typical Phenoptic dosage.
