Pen-Vee K Uses

Pen-Vee K is an antibiotic that acts on penicillin-sensitive microorganisms during their active multiplication phase. The potassium salt of Pen-Vee K favors immediate solubility and absorption of the drug. Pen-Vee K works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of the cell-wall mucopeptide. After absorption, the drug binds to Penicillin-binding proteins which are located inside the bacterial cell wall and thus inhibit the bacterial cell-wall synthesis. Cell lysis occurs and the bacterial growth is checked.
