Pediaphyl Uses

Pediaphyl belongs to a class of drugs known as antihistamines. Pediaphyl works by blocking the activities of histamine. Histamine is a substance that occurs naturally in the body during an allergic reaction. By blocking the activities of histamine, Pediaphyl helps dry out some body fluids thereby relieving symptoms such as watery eyes and runny nose. Unless authorized by the doctor, Pediaphyl should not be used for children under the age of 6 years. Pediaphyl is typically not used for more than 7 days. In case the symptoms do not go away be sure to consult your doctor for other ways to relieve the symptoms. Pediaphyl is used for:

Pediaphyl Dosage

The dosage of Pediaphyl depends on the patient and the condition being treated. Pediaphyl should be used as directed by the doctor. You should not use it in smaller or larger amounts than recommended by the doctor. Pediaphyl dosage may vary from one individual to the other based on weight, age, response to treatment and medical history. Below is the typical Pediaphyl dose:

  • 4 mg orally every 4 to 6 hours

If a Pediaphyl dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as possible. However, if it is about time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the normal schedule.
