Pd-Cof (chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine) is a combination drug that is used to treat symptoms brought about by the common cold, allergies, hay fever, flu or other breathing illnesses. Pd-Cof is also used to ease the effects of watery eyes, runny nose and sneezing. Pd-Cof is only available through a doctor's or physician's prescription.

Pd-Cof is a cough suppressant, decongestant and antihistamine combination.
Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that works by stopping the activities a natural chemical known as histamine. Histamine can cause symptoms such as itching, watery eyes, runny nose and sneezing.
Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that works by affecting the signals in the brain that cause a cough reflex. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that works by constricting blood arteries in the nasal passage. Enlarged blood vessels can lead to nasal congestion. Pd-Cof should not be used by patients who have taken a MAO inhibitor in the 14 days.
Also, use Pd-Cof with caution if you have asthma, cough with mucus or a cough caused by chronic bronchitis or emphysema. Pd-Cof is used to treat:
- Common cold
- Hay fever
The dosage of Pd-Cof depends on the individual and the condition being treated. Pd-Cof should be used as directed by the doctor. You should not use it in smaller or larger amounts than recommended by the doctor.Pd-Cof is available in capsule, powder and liquid form. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Be sure to shake the bottle if you’re using the liquid form. Below you will find a typical dosage of Pd-Cof.
- 1 to 2 tablets orally every 12 hours not to exceed 4 tablets every 24 hours
If a Pd-Cof dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as possible. However, if it is about time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the normal schedule.
Pd-Cof Side Effects
Using Pd-Cof will cause side effects as is the case with most drugs. However, the severity of the side effects will differ from one person to the other. Mild side effects will disappear as the body gets assimilated to the activities of the drug. However, be sure to inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe side effects listed below. Note that some side effects may not be listed below.

- Inability to breath
