Pap-Urea is a combination of two medicines, Papain and Urea. Pap-Urea is used to break down dead skin or tissue in wounds such as bed sores, ulcers, burns, surgical wounds, cysts and carbuncles. Once the tissue is broken down, it can be easily removed. Papain is relatively ineffective when used alone as a debriding agent and requires the presence of activators to stimulate its digestive potency.

Pap-Urea Uses

Pap-Urea is used for the debridement of necrotic tissue and liquefication of slough in protracted acute wounds, for instance, pressure sores, diabetic ulcers, infected wounds, postoperative wounds, varicose ulcers, traumatic lesions, burns, carbuncles, and pilonidal cyst wounds. Papain is reasonably ineffectual when used on its own as a debriding agent. It requires the existence of activators to arouse its digestive strength.

The combination of papain and urea encourages two supplementary chemical activities. It discloses through solvent action the activators of Papain in addition to denaturing the nonviable protein substance in lacerations. The blend of Papain and Urea has been demonstrated in pharmacological research to result in twice as much digestive activity as papain only. Below you will find a list of Pap-Urea uses.

  • Break down dead skin or tissue

Pap-Urea Dosage

Pap-Urea dosage depends on the individual and the condition being treated. Pap-Urea is for external use only. Wash your hands before applying Pap-Urea and even after applying Pap-Urea. Avoid using hydrogen peroxide to clean the wound before applying Pap-Urea. The hydrogen peroxide can make the Pap-Urea less effective in breaking down the tissues of the wound.

After application, dress the wound as recommended by your doctor. For best results rinse your wound each time you change your bandage even if you do not apply Pap-Urea.

Below you will find a typical Pap-Urea dosage.

  • Apply Pap-Urea directly on the wound then cover the treated area with a bandage.
  • Keep the wound covered all the timesince this medication can cause the dead skin to slough and peel off.
  • Before using a new spray bottle, it is essential to prime the pump by holding the bottle vertically above the lesion, and pumping 10 to 14 spells.
  • Apply the ointment directly to the skin wound.
