Ovide is used to treat head lice in patients. It works by paralyzing and killing head lice and their eggs. Patients should avoid intimate contact with others until the lice have been eradicated. It is helpful to also treat their environment by boiling their clothes and bedding. Therefore, if your condition worsens, you should contact your doctor.
- Head Lice
Ovide dosage is completely dependent on the individual. Note that the amount of Ovide depends on the amount of times you plan on applying each day. Patients should wash their hands after application and take special care not to expose their hair near flammable objects.
- Apply lotion to dry hair and scalp. Allow the hair to air-dry, uncovered and leave medication for 8-12 hours, then shampoo and rinse well.
- Afterward, run a fine-toothed comb through wet hair to remove the dead lice and the dead eggs. Repeat as needed.
