Though its uses in this are beyond doubt, it should be kept in mind that Maxalt cannot be used as a prophylaxis for this specific type of migraine. Similarly, it cannot be used concomitantly with another medicine that is used to manage the same.
Rizatriptan"s main function is for the management of migraine headaches precipitated by tension. These are some of the dose suggestions of dosages related to Maxalt and its regulation with respect to severity of the condition and age:
Between 6 to 17 years:
- Initial dose of 5mg as a single oral dose daily is most effective for patients weighing 40 kg. An additional dose of 5mg to sum up to 10mg is required for patients above this weight bracket
- Initial dose is 5 - 10mg per day but a 10mg dose is known to be most effective in treatment of migraine headaches.
