Jevtana Uses

Jevtana is a name brand version of the drug cabazitaxel, a mitotic inhibitor and antineoplastic drug used to fight cancer, most commonly prostate cancer. Jevtana is used in concert with the steroid prednisone. Jevtana interferes with the process of mitosis, subsequently interrupting the duplication of cancer cells. Jevtana may not be appropriate for people who suffer from kidney disease or those who have allergies, are over age 65 or are taking an NSAID drug.

Jevtana Dosage

Jevtana dosage is dependent on the individual that it is being administered to. The following dosage is an average dose and could differ among individuals. Follow your medical professional's directions for best results.

Jevtana is a solution administered intravenously in a clinical setting.

  • The drug is given once every three weeks in a dose of 25 mg per square meter of body surface area.
  • The accompanying drug, prednisone, is taken daily in 10 mg doses.

The drug requires dilution and cannot be administered with infusion tools made of polyurethane. Other drugs may be administered beforehand to ensure reduced risk of reaction to Jevtana.

Jevtana Side Effects

Some patients may experience side effects, both mild and severe. This list is not exhaustive, but you should contact a doctor immediately if you experience:
