histex Uses

Dilated blood vessels cause a stuffy nose. Histex works by decongesting and shrinking blood vessels in the nasal passages. Histamine is a chemical that is produced by the body during an allergic reaction. It causes reactions such as skin irritation, throat and lung irritation, coughs, flem, mucosa, swelling, rash, itchiness and nose irritation. These allergic reactions are a response to allergens such as dust, pollen, insect bites, topical irritants and some foods. 

It’s good to note that Histex is not a cure to this allergic reactions but only controls and relives the irritations. Histex works by relieving symptoms of

  • Sinus pressure                                                                                                         
  • Sinus congestion
  • Runny nose
  • Watery eyes
  •  Itching of the nose
  • Throat irritation
  • Hay fever
  • Sneezing

histex Dosage

Histex dose is determined by the doctor. He or she may determine the dose based on factors such as severity of the condition being treated, weight, age, medical history and response to treatment. This means that the dose may vary from one patient to the other. The duration between time and the length of using Histex are determined by the severity of the condition being treated. Ask your doctor if it’s safe to take this medication if you have chronic bronchitis, asthma or emphysema

Usual Adult Dose          

  • 2 oral tablets after every 4 to 6 hours
  • 10-20 mL orally after every 12 hours

Usual Pediatric Dose

  • 6 to 12 months: 0.5 mL orally four times a day
  • 1 to 2 years: 0.75 mL orally four times a day
  • 2 to 3 years: 1mL orally four times a day

If you miss a Histex dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is time for the second dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the normal schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Histex, just like any other medicine has its side effects. The severity of these side effects may vary from one person to the other depending on the body’s ability to handle the effects of the drug.
