Helitene works by preventing nerves of the affected area from sending painful impulses to the brain. It is applied to the affected area to help remove dead skin tissue and help the wound to heal. Pressure ulcers, also known as bedsores, are skin injuries or injuries underlying in the tissue. These injuries are as a result of prolonged pressure on the skin. They mostly affect the skin that covers bony areas of the body such as ankles, hips, heels and tailbone. The affected area can form patches of tarnished skin to open wounds that can expose the underlying muscles or bone. Helitene is used to treat:
- Pressure ulcers or bedsores
- In surgical procedures
- Itching in the anal and rectal area
Helitene dosage is determined by the doctor. He or she may determine the dose based on factors such as severity of the condition being treated, weight, age, medical history and response to treatment. It, therefore, means that the dose may vary from one patient to the other. The duration between intervals, time and the length of using Helitene are determined by the severity of the condition being treated. Ask your doctor if it's safe to take this medication if you have chronic bronchitis, asthma or emphysema. Below you will find a typical dosage of Helitene.
- Apply a thin film to the affected area 3 times a day
