Hc Tussive-D Uses

Hc Tussive-D has a decongestant, cough suppressant and antihistamine as the active ingredients. The antihistamine works by reducing the activities of histamine. Histamine is a chemical that is naturally produced by the body and can bring about symptoms of sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes.

The decongestant in Hc Tussive-D works by shrinking the vessels in the nose. Widened blood vessels are associated with nasal congestion (stuffy nose). The narcotic cough suppressant (antitussive) in Hc Tussive-D works by interfering with a particular part of the brain thereby lessening the urge to cough. Note that Hc Tussive-D is not used to treat coughs with mucus unless directed by the doctor. Hc Tussive-D is used to treat:

  • Coughs
  • Common cold
  • Ear and nose congestion
