Typically, Halaven is usually given to patients that have tried at least two other chemotherapy medications but haven't found any relief in arresting the growth of breast cancer. Halaven is administered as an injection through an IV.

Halaven can be used to treat cases of advanced breast cancer and other types of cancers. Halaven works by causing microtubules (a structure that is involved in cell division and multiplication process) from forming. Cancer cells are more likely to divide than normal cells. Therefore, if your condition worsens, you should contact your doctor.

Halaven dosage is completely dependent on the individual who takes it as it can be used for a variety of different treatments. Note that this medication should be taken on days 1 and 8 of a 21-day cycle. This medication should be administered under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
Halaven dosage to treat breast cancer.
- Adults: 1.4 mg/m2 IV over 2 to 5 minutes on days 1 and 8 of a 21-day cycle.
If you happen to miss a dosage of Halaven, take your dosage as soon as you can. However, if you are approaching the time for your next scheduled dose, just skip and continue on with your regular timetable of medication.

- methadone (Methadose, Diskets, Dolophine)
Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding should notify taking their doctor before taking this medication. Individuals who have a history of liver or kidney disease, congestive heart failure, a heart rhythm disorder, history of Long QT syndrome or electrolyte imbalance should notify their doctor. Halaven interferes with the body's ability to fight infections. Patients taking Halaven may get an infection or bleed more easily.
