Guaispan-Dm Uses

Guaispan-Dm is comprised of an expectorant and cough suppressant. The cough suppressant (dextromethorphan) works by acting on a certain part of the brain (cough center) to reduce the urge to cough. The expectorant (guaifenesin) works by loosening and thinning the nasal passages, clearing congestion to enable easier breathing. 

Note that Guaispan-Dm does not cure or shorten the length of the common cold and may trigger an onset of severe side effects. To avoid such side effects, do not use Guaispan-Dm with another drug that contains similar ingredients at the same time. Also, do not use Guaispan-Dm in children below 12 years unless specifically authorized by a doctor as well. Guaispan-Dm is indicated for:

  • Coughs
  • Bronchitis
  • Sinusitis

Guaispan-Dm Dosage

Guaispan-Dm should be use as directed by the doctor. The doctor may use factors such as your weight, medical history and response to treatment to establish the Guaispan-Dm dose. The time, length and interval between doses are determined by the severity of the condition being treated. Equally, the amount of Guaispan-Dm to be administered depends on the strength of the drug. Below is the Guaispan-Dm dosage

  • 2 capsules every 4 hours/ not to exceed 12 capsules every 24 hours

If you miss a Guaispan-Dm dosage, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the subsequent dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the normal schedule.

Guaispan-Dm Side Effects
