G-Vent Uses

G-Vent is a combination medication that is used for temporary relief and treatment of cold and allergy symptoms. A combination of guaifenesin and phenylpropanolamine is what forms G-Vent. The two medicines are the active agents in this drug that relieve cough, throat and airway irritation caused by hay fever or colds. Guaifenesin is the expectorant component in the combination that loosens mucus and lung secretion to clear the airways. Phenylpropanolamine is the decongestant component in this drug and it works by reducing nasal congestion by shrinking the blood vessels in the nose.

G-Vent Dosage

G-Vent dosage is determined by manufacturer guidelines on the package or the prescribing physician. To ensure that the right dosage will be administered, G-Vent must be prescribed by a certified physician or a pharmacist. Usual dosage for adults:

  • A cough and nasal congestion – 5 mL to 10 mL of G-Vent (100 mg to 12.5 mg) orally every 4 hours.

  • 6-12 years or older; Take 1 mL of G-Vent (50 mg to 6.25 mg) orally every 4 hours.
