Fluoridex is a medication that is usually used for preventing dental cavities and also for reducing dental hypersensitivity. It is a combination of Sodium Fluoride and Potassium Nitrate. Sodium Fluoride works by strengthening the teeth and also making them more resistant to the decay that is caused by bacteria and acid. Potassium Nitrate calms the nerves in the teeth hence reducing the sensitivity.
Fluoridex is also used for he prevention of tooth decay in patients who undergo head or neck radiation which may be a cause of mouth dryness and increased tooth decay. If there are other uses of Fluoridex, a dentist should be the one to determine that.
Following the doctor's instructions regarding the dosage and the schedule of any medication should be of paramount importance. If there is any case of an overdose, you should contact the dentist immediately.
If you happen to miss a dose of Fluoridex, take it as soon as you remember but if it is almost time for the next dose you should skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.
