Feldene is a NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug). Piroxicam is its generic form but can also be in its brand form of Feldene. Feldene works by inhibiting hormones that cause pain and inflammation. Mostly, it is used to cure pain caused by arthritis. Other drugs found in this category include indomethacin, naproxen, ibuprofen, nabumetone among others.

Feldene works through inhibiting body secretions of natural substances that cause swelling. It helps patients with arthritis continue with their normal functions by reducing pain, improving flexibility of joints and reduces swelling.

Feldene is ingested through the mouth as instructed by the doctor followed by a glass of water. The patient should avoid lying down after taking the medication for at least 10 minutes. The medication should be followed by an anti-acid, milk or food to avoid upset stomach caused by ingesting the drug on its own. If the patient is not on regular medication (takes the drug when needed) it is advisable to take the medicine on the onset of symptoms. Feldene Side Effects

Adverse and severe side effects of this drug may be increased bleeding after an injury as NSAIDs reduce the clotting ability of drugs. - Clopidogrel, aspirin, heparin, rivaroxaban, SSRIs (serotonin reuptake inhibitors) because these may increase the susceptibility to stomach bleeding.
- ACEs (Angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitors because Feldene reduces their effects. They include enalapril, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide among others in this class of drugs.
- Bisphosphonates such as risedronate, alendronate, cyclosporine, hydantoins, sulfonamides(e.g sulfamethoxazole), sulfonylureas(e.g glipizide) quinolones(eg ciprofloxacin), methotrexate and lithium.
