Exgest LA Uses
Exgest LA use is largely prescribed for the treatment of the symptoms of common cold as well as infections of the throat, lungs and sinuses. Phenylpropanolamine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels and reduces the swelling in the sinuses and nose. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that breaks up congestion and mucous, making it easier to breath. As a combination drug, doctors prescribe Exgest LA to treat the following;

Exgest LA Dosage
Exgest LA medicine is prescription only medicine that comes only with a doctor’s prescription. The following is the recommended Exgest LA dose for treatment of nasal congestion and coughs and other symptoms of common cold.
Adult Exgest LA dosage:
- 5 – 10 ml ( 100 mg to 12.5 mg/5 ml) taken orally every 4 hours
- Or 20 ml taken every 4 hours
- Or 1 extended release tablet taken orally every 12 hours
Pediatric Exgest LA dose:
- 1 ml (50 mg to 6.25 mg/ml) administered orally every 4 hours
- Or 1 ml (30 mg to 6.25 mg/ml) orally every 4 hours
- Or 5 ml (100 mg to 6.25 mg/ml) orally every 4 hours
Exgest LA Side Effects
Patients on Exgest LA dosage may suffer from one or more of its side effects. Not all patients experience side effects and many take this dose with only mild side effects or none at all. No serious Exgest LA side effects are expected. Patients who experience allergic reactions should seek emergency medical attention. The following are known Exgest LA side effects;
