ExeCof is a drug that is usually used for relieving cough and also nasal congestion. It is a combination of Guaifenesin and hydrocodone. Guaifenesin works by clearing the mucus or phlegm from the chest while hydrocodone works by relieving the cough through the cough center in the brain because it is a cough suppressant.

ExeCof is a combination of Hydrocodone and Guaifenesin and it is used for treating nasal congestion and relieving cough that are related to common cold.
Hydrocodone is a narcotic antitussive which acts as a cough suppressant. Hydrocodone works directly on the brain by relieving the cough through the cough center. Guaifenesin helps in clearing the mucus that is in the chest that is usually caused by congestion from a cold or flu. Guaifenesin works by thinning the phlegm or the mucus in the lungs.
ExeCof may be used for other purposes that are not listed above, but self-prescription is not advised as the doctor is the only one to determine any other use of ExeCof.
It is always very important to follow the doctor’s instructions that are given at the time of the prescription of ExeCof. If you suspect any signs of an overdose, you should contact the doctor immediately. If you miss a dose of ExeCof, take it as soon as you remember, but if it is almost time for the next dose you can skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take two doses to make up for a missed dose.
- The usual adult dose for cough is 1 to 1.5 tablet(s) equivalent to 300 mg to 5 mg orally every 12 hours
- The pediatric dose for cough is 2.5 mL syrup equivalent to 90 mg to 3 mg/5mLorally every 4 to 6 hours
ExeCof Side Effects
ExeCof has several side effects although some of them have not been reported yet. Some of these side effects may sometimes turn out to be stubborn that they may need a doctor’s attention while others are just mild and do not need any attention from a doctor. Te side effects may sometimes depend on the age, weight and the severity of the condition. Contact the doctor immediately if any of these severe side effects occur to you while using ExeCof. - Shortness of breath
- Feeling of warmth
