Emcyt, also known generically as Estramustine phosphate sodium, is an antineoplastic agent that treats cancers such as prostate cancer. Emcyt comes in the form of an off-white powder that is readily soluble in water. The capsules are mostly white and sometimes opaque; each capsule contains estramustine phosphate sodium as the disodium salt monohydrate equivalent to 140mg estramustine phosphate, for oral administration.

Primarily Emcyt is used in the treatment of some types of prostate cancer. Once administered, the estramustine disintegrates into two components, estrone, and estradiol, both called estrogens. Another product of this breakdown is estramustine a drug that cures some type of cancer as well.
Emcyt works by increasing the amount of estrogens, which manipulates prostate cancer, and by slowing down or completely eradicating the cancer cells.

- The most general and recommended prescription is a daily dose of 14 mg for each 1kg of body weight. This dosage should be administered in divided 3 or 4 doses. Also, a dosage range of 10 to 16 mg each day has proven effective for most patients.
- It is recommended that the patient's progress be monitored for about 30 to 90 days before the doctor decides dosage adjustments for that particular condition.
- Depending on the response of the patient and the magnitude of the condition, some patients may stay in therapy for as long as 3 years but with a continuous dosage prescription of 10 to 16 mg per kg of body weight administered once daily.
