Depo-Estradiol is a drug that has an estrogen hormone, estradiol. It is available in generic form as estradiol and belongs to a drug class called estrogens. Depo-estradiol treats moderate or severe menopause symptoms like itching, vaginal burning, severe dryness, hot flashes and burning around the vagina. It acts by replacing the natural estrogens in those who do not produce adequate estrogen.
Depo-Estradiol is a female sex hormone (estrogen) used to help reduce the symptoms of menopause such vaginal dryness and hot flashes. It is used by women who cannot produce enough estrogen due to conditions such as hypogonadism or primary ovarian failure.
Depo-Estradiol works by replacing natural estrogen. If you are using this drug to treat symptoms in and around the vagina, you should talk to your doctor about using other products that directly applied inside the vagina.
Depo-Estradiol is typically injected into a muscle as directed by the health care provider, usually 3 to 4 weeks. Do not store this drug at low temperatures to avoid crystals forming in the liquid.
