Delsym Uses

Delsym is a common over-the-counter cough suppressant medication, typically available as an oral solution. Delsym suppresses the patient"s need to cough, which provides effective relief from repetitive coughing. Unfortunately, it"s not effective in treating long-term coughs caused by smoking or long-term breathing products. Delsym is most effective and least dangerous when used in the short-term to treat coughs caused by conditions such as sinusitis and the common cold. However, it does not treat other symptoms of these conditions and will not cure or shorten the length of minor illnesses. Delsym should also not be used in children under 6 years old.
