Zolpidem is a drug that belongs to the GABA agonist or imidazopyridine class of drugs. Zolpidem is a sedative-hypnotic drug that affects the actions of a specific chemical found in the brain known as GABA. Zolpidem can be used in the treatment of sleep disorders and insomnia. Zolpidem, however, has not been very successful in treating people who have premature awakening due to the half-life nature of the drug.Zolpidem is an oral medication taken typically on an empty stomach usually at night to treat insomnia and is a fast acting drug.
