Simbrinza is a drug used in treating eye conditions. Some of the conditions that it treats include high blood pressure of the eye and open-angle glaucoma. This drug is important because high blood pressure of the eye can lead to glaucoma. Simbrinza belongs to the alpha group of drugs and works by reducing the amount of fluids in the eye. The other name for simbrinza is brinzolamide/brimonidine.
Simbrinza (brinzolamide/brimonidine tartrate) is a combination of two medications; a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and alpha agonists which work by decreasing the amount of fluid within the eye.
Simbrinza is a medication which is mainly used to treat high pressure in the eye caused by glaucoma or ocular hypertension. This helps in reducing the risks of vision loss, nerve damage or blindness. However, Simbrinza may also be used for other purposes as determined by the doctor.
However, Simbrinza is not recommended for use in children under the age of 2 years of age due to an increased risk of serious side effects for example very slowed breathing. Consult the doctor for more information.
