Ranexa is used to treat angina. Angina is caused due to lack of oxygen to the heart, causes smoother flow to the heart. Ranexa is part of the Anti-anginal drug class.
Ranexa (ranolazine) is used to treat angina (chest pain). Angina is chest disorder that is caused by lack of enough oxygen-rich blood reaching the heart muscles.
Ranexa works by improving the flow of blood, and this helps the heart get more oxygenated blood. It works by opening up and widening the arteries that could have been blocked thus limiting the efficient flow of blood into the heart.
Ranexa is an anti-anginal medication, but it should not be used to treat an acute attack of angina. The drug is supplied in the form of tablets, extended release and film coated. Ranexa should be administered through the mouth with or without food.
