Qvar is a medication used to prevent and control the symptoms associated with asthma such as wheezing and shortness of breath. Qvar must be used regularly to effectively keep the symptoms under control. Note that Qvar does not work instantly and should not be used to relieve an asthma attack.
Qvar is a medicine used in the treatment of asthma. The active ingredient - beclomethasone - is a steroid drug which is administered to the patient via the inhalational route. Beclomethasone works by decreasing inflammatory substances in the lung, to facilitate the breathing process. It does so by mimicking natural corticosteroids in the body.
Qvar does not treat an asthmatic attack when it occurs. Rather, Qvar is used to prevent asthmatic attacks by the above means. Most of the administered dose is excreted via the biliary route. Common side effects with Qvar include headache, mouth dryness, stuffy nose, hoarseness, cough, and a deeper voice.
