Nesina is a dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitor which is used to control blood sugar levels for diabetics by adjusting the amount of insulin in the body. Insulin is used to lower blood sugar. A person is vulnerable to type 2 diabetes if the body does not produce enough insulin from the diet. Nesina increases the production of incretin hormones, Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLp-1) and Gastric Inhibitory Polypeptide (GIP), which enable the pancreas to produce glucose that helps in managing the blood sugar levels.
