Mirapex is a prescription drug that contains pramipexole Di HCL, a compound that has mirrored effects to a naturally occurring body chemical known as dopamine. Mirapex belongs to the group of drugs known as nonergot dopamine agonist. Mirapex is approved to treat Parkinson's disease and the symptoms that may arise with this disease that include poor muscle coordination, tremors, muscle contractions and or rigidity. Mirapex is also prescribed to patients suffering from the restless leg syndrome. Parkinson's disease has been discovered to be linked to low dopamine levels. Mirapex acts by raising dopamine levels in the brain.
