Magnesium sulfate is a very important mineral for the human body. It is also commonly called Epsom Salt, which got its name from a bitter saline spring that is located in Surrey, England. Salt was produced from these springs that did contain porous chalk and non-porous London clay. Magnesium sulfate is something that can be used medically both internally and externally. Epsom salts are applied as bath salts and to isolation tanks. Magnesium sulfate is often used as a saline laxative or as an osmotic purgative. Intravenous magnesium is used to treat severe asthma attacks.
