Lisinopril is a medicine used to in the treatment of hypertension, more commonly referred to as high blood pressure. The drug belongs to the ACE inhibitor class of drugs, which work by inhibiting enzymes responsible for blood pressure-raising effects. Common side effects include nausea, dizziness, headache and cough. Lisinopril is a medicine that is used for treating of hypertension (high blood pressure). It is an Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) drug. Lisinopril is also used in treating congestive heart failure, and to provide survival after a severe heart attack. Lisinopril works on the blood vessels to reduce the pressure in the blood stream. It dilates or enlarges the interior diameter of the arteries to lower the pressure of the blood and this how the hypertension problem is contained. Lisinopril may also be used to treat other conditions including Myocardial infarction and diabetic Nephropathy. Before taking this drug, ensure that you have no allergy to ACE inhibitors. The patient is also advised to drink plenty of water all day while taking this medication.
