Clindesse is a clindamycin that uses a single dose therapy to treat vaginal infections in patients suffering from conditions like Bacterial Vaginosis. This infection is typically caused by particular bacteria that can only be found in non-pregnant women. Clindesse belongs to a group of drugs called vaginal anti-infectives and is a lincomycin antibiotic. The drug generally works by slowing down the growth of certain bacteria in the body. Clindesse is a topical antibiotic cream. It is a therapy, usually single-dose, for the treatment of certain (not all) vaginal infections. Clindesse treats bacterial vaginosis. Clindesse should not be used if you are pregnant. Gynecologists recommend that people who are infected by bacterial vaginosis apply Clindesse topical cream once a day. There is no specific time of application as long as is within 24 hours. Once applied to the patient, Clindesse cream works by slowing or reducing the growth and spreading of certain bacteria that cause vaginosis. Those who have ulcerative colitis, antibiotic-associated colitis, and Crohn's disease or are allergic to lincomycin should NOT use Clindesse.
