Cefdinir is a cephalosporin antibiotic commonly used to treat bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria as well as killing some of it. It accomplishes this by interrupting the creation of the peptidoglycan layer, which forms the cell wall of the bacteria. This consequently leads to the collapse and destruction of bacteria cells. Cefdinir is an antibiotic used to treat infections that are caused by bacteria such as pharyngitis, skin infections, ear infections, bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis. It comes in both capsule and oral suspension. Cefdinir is also known as OMNICEF. Active ingredients include an extended-spectrum and semisynthetic cephalosporin for oral admission. Cefdinir works by stopping bacterial growth and unfortunately does not work for viral infections such as flu or a common cold. It is taken by mouth once or twice a day depending on doctor’s specifications. Remember to inform your doctor of any allergies you may be having before you start using Cefdinir. In addition, Cefdinir may cause some side effects such diarrhea, fatigue, vomiting and even dizziness. Inform your doctor if any of the aforementioned side effects start to occur after you start using Cefdinir.
