Brisdelle, also known as paroxetine, is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It is a prescription drug provided by a doctor and is used to treat hot flashes associated with menopause. Since it belongs to a group of drugs called SSRI, Paroxetine has an effect on the chemicals in the brain, which makes the brain unbalanced. Brisdelle is a medicine used in the treatment of major depressive disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It may also be used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and the menopause. The active ingredient of Brisdelle, paroxetine, is a member of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class of drugs. What this means is that Brisdelle enhances serotonin levels between nerve cells, in physiological spaces known as synapses. Elevated serotonin levels are associated with an elevated mood. This does, however, come with its own range of potential side effects. These include headache, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting. Some patients may experience suicidal ideation.
