Atazanavir, also known as Reyataz, has been used as an antiretroviral in treating HIV along with other medicines. Besides being a protease inhibitor, Atazanavir has relatively insignificant effects on a patient's lipid composition. Atazanavir can also be reinforced with other drugs like ritonavir for improved performance. However, those with acute liver complications and those taking sildenafil for pulmonary arterial hypertension are strongly advised against using Atazanavir.
