Amicar is an oral drug that is used to treat severe bleeding by enhancing hemostasis that prevents fibrinolysis. It maintains blood clotting at the bleeding spot enhancing the healing process. Amicar can be taken orally or intravenously. This bleeding can be characterized by complications arising from surgeries like heart and dental surgery. In cases where a lot of blood has been lost, transfusion is always considered to replenish. However, before Amicar is prescribed, the cause of the bleeding should be clearly first established. There must be a certainty as to whether fibrinolysis is the cause of the bleeding or disseminated intravascular coagulation.
