Alomide is a drug used in the treatment of inflammatory disorders of the eye, such as conjunctivitis. The active ingredient of the medicine, lodoxamide, works as a mast cell stabiliser. This means that it prevents the release of those substances that cause the inflammatory reaction to worsen. The drug is administered to the eyes in the form of drops, each of which must be administered multiple times per day.
