Acticlate is a form of doxycycline that serves as an antibacterial agent in the body. It works by hampering bacterial growth, by that giving the body's own immune system a chance to overtake the invading bacteria. The drug is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Acticlate (doxycycline) is a tetracycline antibiotic which works by preventing and killing bacteria in the body. Acticlate treats several bacterial infections such as acne, eye infections, intestinal infections, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, urinary tract infections, and gum disease. Acticlate may also be used to treat scars, bumps, and lesions caused by rosacea. This medication may also be used in other forms to prevent malaria or treat anthrax and other infections.
