Cortisporin Uses

Cortisporin is used in treating skin infections by utilizing the action of both antibiotic ingredients and anti-inflammatory corticosteroids. The active ingredients in Cortisporin are neomycin, polymyxin, and hydrocortisone. Polymyxin works to alter bacterial cell wall making the cellular content to leak thus causing the bacteria to die. Neomycin stops protein synthesis in the bacteria thus leading to bacterial cell death. Hydrocortisone works by suppressing inflammation in areas affected by the infection.
