Bentyl is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome. Since this drug has a direct relaxing effect on the muscle, it is also used to reduce the contraction of intestinal muscles.

The doctor may suggest using Bentyl in small doses to reduce side effects, and then gradually increase it. The doctor will consider the patient"s medical condition, response to the treatment and age in giving the dosage. Dosage instructions should be followed carefully to avoid side effects and addiction.
