Baci-IM Uses

Baci-Im is an antibiotic that can be used to treat various conditions caused by a bacteria. However, medical practitioner’s advice is paramount before commencing the medication to avoid unnecessary side effects. The drug is commonly used to treat bacterial infections such as;

  • staph infection and
  • pneumonia especially in infants

Staph infection is caused by Staphylococcus bacteria. Baci-Im works by getting rid of pus that build up between the lungs membrane and the lungs. If you are contemplating using Baci-Im to treat other conditions with similar symptoms like pneumonia, ask your pharmacists for directions and if it is healthy to use it for that condition.

Baci-IM Dosage

For every drug, dosage may vary from one patient to the other depending on a couple of factors evaluated by your health care provider. An over dose may cause unnecessary severe side effects while an under dose makes Baci-Im ineffective. Use the drug as directed by your pharmacist. In case you are not sure about the dosage, read the leaf-let provided to you by the manufacturer.

  • The recommended dose for infants under 2500 grams is 900 units/kg/24 hours which is divided in 2 to 3 doses.
  • Infants with more than 2500 grams should take 1000 units/kg/24 hours divided in 2 to 3 doses administered intramuscularly.

Baci-IM Side Effects
