Atrohist Uses

Atrohist is a combination medication that used to treat upper respiratory infections and allergic symptoms. It is formulated by combining various medicines including chlorpheniramine, pyrilamine, and phenylephrine. It is made of a decongestant and an antihistamine.

Phenylephrine is the main decongestant component of this combination. It works by narrowing the blood vessels and thus it treats the irritating nasal congestion. Chlorpheniramine and pyrilamine are the antihistamines that relieve itchy/watery eyes, sneezing, itchy throats and other upper respiratory allergic symptoms. It works by reducing the production of natural histamine.

Atrohist Dosage

Atrohist dosage for adults:

  • Allergic Rhinitis/ Cold symptoms; 5-10 mL orally every 4 to 6 hours and the maximum dosage should be 60mg of per day.

Children’s dosage for Allergic rhinitis/cold symptoms

  • 2 to 6 years; 2.5 to 5 mL every 12 hours
  • 6 years and older; 5-10 mL every 12 hours.

For pediatric patients below 2 years, this drug is not safe for them.
