Aromasin inhibits a type of enzyme known as aromatase that is found in adrenal glands, and which produces estrogen. Aromasin reduces the amount of estrogen synthesized in the body. By lowering the levels of these enzymes, Aromasin slows or even stops the growth of some types of breast cancer cells that require estrogen to grow. It may be used to treat breast cancer in women whose their cancer condition has worsened after being treated using tamoxifen.
