Argatroban-Sodium Chloride is falls under the class of drugs known as thrombin inhibitors. The main work of this drug is to ensure that the patient’s blood clots. In effect, this halts excessive bleeding. Thus, Argatroban’s work is to block any action that may be initiated by thrombin that prevents the formation of blood clots. Argatroban-Sodium Chloride Dosage
Argatroban-Sodium Chloride seems to have one formulation. It is found as an intravenous solution. Although the drug can be used by young and old patients alike, the exact pediatric dosage has not been formerly established by researchers and medical doctors. However, for adults who are suffering from thromboembolic/thrombotic disorder and or prophylaxis is as follows:
- Give 2 mcg/kg/min as initial dose (this should be constant infusion)
- Adjust infusion rate as it may deem fit but do not exceed 10 mcg/kg/min
- For PCI patients, give 25 mcg/kg/min plus 350 mcg/kg bolus for 3-5 minutes
